General Liability
General Liability includes coverage for your liability due to bodily injury and property damage to others resulting from either conditions on your premises, your work, your products or completed operations. It also includes coverage for personal injury or advertising injury sustained by others and arising out of your business operations. Your policy will cover the cost of both defending and settling a claim made against you even if the claim is false or fraudulent.

Personal injury covers damages to others for acts such as libel, slander, invasion of privacy, wrongful entry or eviction, false arrest and malicious prosecution.

Advertising injury refers to damages to others sustained as a result of the use of someone else’s advertising idea in your advertising (print, broadcast or web-site publication) as well as infringement of another’s copyright, trademark or slogan.

Your business faces liability exposures every day. Whether you own a building, manufacture, distribute, sell a product or provide a service, claims against you can arise resulting in spending many hours of your time and many dollars of your assets being exposed to loss.

At TSG, we identify your exposures and attempt to have them eliminated or transferred to others. For those exposures that cannot be minimized by elimination or transference, we design your liability protection to address your specific needs. We seek out insurers that will provide broad coverage terms at competitive rates.

Internet Liability
Any organization operating a Web site or conducting e-business needs protection from an invading army of exposures, such as e-theft, destruction of critical data, defamation, libel, copyright or trademark infringement, e-vandalism, e-threats, denial of service, and more.

Any company operating a Web site can be sued for an expanding array of emerging liability exposures, such as libel and copyright or trademark infringement, as well as e-commerce exposures. These evolve and become more complex—which could be potentially devastating to a company’s bottom line. Appropriate internet liability coverage specifically helps privately owned companies manage these exposures.

Workers' Compensation
State laws require most employers to carry Workers’ Compensation. In many cases, employers find that the cost for providing this coverage ends up as the largest part of their insurance budget.

Our commercial staff provides a variety of vehicles beyond the standard Workers’ Compensation policy that can offer significant premium savings such as:

Dividend or Participating Plans
Safety Group Participation
Self-Insured Retention or Deductible Programs
Retrospective Rating Plans

Umbrella & Excess Liability
An Umbrella or Excess Liability policy is a crucial component of an insurance program, providing liability protection above a firm’s primary liability policies including:

General Liability
Products Liability & Completed Operations
Auto Liability
Watercraft/Aircraft Liability
Employers Liability

Working with our carriers, with whom we have developed close relationships, we have arranged coverage in layers with various financially sound insurers in a cost efficient manner, while keeping coverage concurrent.

In many cases, we have the ability to provide Excess Follow Form (Coverage A) along with Umbrella Liability (Coverage B).

Coverage A provides increased liability limits by having the excess carrier adopt the provisions of your scheduled primary policies.

Coverage B offers broadened protection to help eliminate or close any gaps in your primary insurance program. In essence, it offers protection when no underlying insurance applies.

Bonds
Bonds are divided into two categories – Surety and Fidelity. While bonds and insurance satisfy a similar need, to provide protection against an unforeseen loss, bonds are different in almost every other way.

Surety: While a typical insurance contract involves two parties, the insurer and the insured, surety bonds are three way contracts. The parties:

Principal – Generally the party assuming an obligation
Surety – The company actually issuing the bond, guaranteeing, along with the principal, the obligation
Obligee – The party to whom the guarantee is made

There are different types of surety bonds:

Court or Judicial Bonds
License & Permit Bonds
Bid, Performance & Payment Bonds
Supply Bonds

Fidelity: This type of bond guarantees that an employer will be indemnified for property damage caused by an employee for committing a crime such as embezzlement, fraud or theft of the company’s (employer’s) assets or assets for which the company is responsible. Companies that have employees who are entrusted with handling cash, inventory or other valuable assets should maintain a fidelity bond.

Fidelity bonds can be written either on a “blanket” basis or a “specific” basis. The blanket form covers groups of employees (either by positions or by class) where the “specific” form covers only named individuals or ones in key positions.

Environmental Liability
In today’s society, environmental issues affect almost every segment of our lives. In the business world, companies must consider the effects of industrial accidents causing pollution of air, ground and water supplies. The number of parties being held responsible for contaminating or polluting our environment has grown exponentially. It can include not only manufacturers, but lending institutions, property owners and other business owners.

Along with the carriers we represent, The Signature Group can develop tailored insurance programs to meet a variety of environmental insurance needs.
